17th June 9:00 AM:
Our Journey at NITIE started with the first lecture on Principles of Organizational Management by Dr.Prasad a.k.a Dr.Mandi.
I have attended a lot of lectures and interacted with lot of Professors but there was something unique about Dr. Mandi.
He entered the class with colourful toys and globe shaped balls in his hands. The lecture started with the way that I think no one of us would have imagined. In no time, the balls were being thrown and toys were passed on to each other inside the classroom.

He entered the class with colourful toys and globe shaped balls in his hands. The lecture started with the way that I think no one of us would have imagined. In no time, the balls were being thrown and toys were passed on to each other inside the classroom.
But, soon Prof. Mandi started giving us lecture and made us
realize that we are nothing but beggars as our opportunity cost during our stay
at the 2 year MBA program at NITIE (The average cost of not doing our previous
job along with money spent on post graduate programme) would be around Rs.
2500/- per day to Rs. 4500/- day. He emphasized on "Aaj ki roti aaj hi
kamani hai" which means that we must ourselves earn what we are spending
now because if we are able to spend then we must be capable to earn. The motive
behind this is not just earn to meet expenditures but because it’s no good to
be in a B-School with no business around.
Soon, the whole classroom was singing the famous song "We don't need no Education" by Pink Floyd.
The YouTube video below describes very well the concept of orthodox education system and challenges the same.

The idea behind this was to communicate that Textbooks and class room coaching can only partially meet the needs of what it takes to be successful in corporate world. Prof Mandi emphasized on the fact that after getting out of NITIE, we should not just be another brick in the wall but the wall itself.

Continuing his point further, he presented to us the unique and highly appreciated concept of MANDI created by Dr.Prasad himself. In MANDI, the students of NITIE sells toys and other things on the streets of Mumbai and experience in practice the application of management concepts like targeting customer, connecting with him and finally selling the product. This process brings forth abilities like analytical skills, communication skills, negotiation skills etc. and is a vital part of learning at NITIE.
At last, after entertaining and making us learn some very important things, Prof. Mandi made us learn one more fundamental aspect of marketing management with the slogan "Socho Becho, Becho Seekho, Seekho, Socho, Socho Becho". He made us realize how some insignificant things could be used for marketing in front of the customers.
All in all, Prof Mandi made it look like fun but enhanced our knowledge with some great learning.
Through this blog, I request everyone to write blogs in their field on interest so that others who don't get the opportunity could be educated. Also, I request you to put up your valuable suggestions for improvements in this blog.
